Little Nonas’ Nature Finds: “Touch Me Not” Plant

“Touch Me Not” Plant (Mimosa pudica)

This curious plant is popular with the children because of its unique behavior: the leaves fold inward and shrink when touched. Hence the name “Touch Me Not.” Its Indonesian name is “Putri Malu,” translated as “Shy Princess”, just as “pudica” means “shy” in Latin.

Ah, Nature can sometimes be very romantic too!
